Chiropractor Oakdale MN |Dietary Flavonoids May Provide Some Protection Against Air Pollution

Hi, this is Oakdale, MN Chiropractor Dr. Ben Smetana.  I just came across this article in the Doctor’s Resource Center on our website.  The article looks at the protective benefits of dietary flavonoids against air pollution; I thought it was fitting given the recent air quality warnings in the twin cities.

A new study from researchers at Harvard and the University of Minnesota has found that dietary flavonoids, such as those found in wine, chocolate, fruits, and vegetables, may protect the heart against the damaging effects of air pollution.

Chiropractor Oakdale MN | Mediterranean Diet Linked to Healthier Aging

Hi this is Oakdale, MN Chiropractor Dr. Ben Smetana.  Here’s a great article I pulled from the Doctor’s Resource Center on our website.  The article looks at the impact of a healthy diet on longevity.

A new study has found a relationship between the Mediterranean diet and longer telomeres in healthy, middle-aged women. Telomeres are repetitive DNA sequences at the end of chromosomes that protect against the loss of genomic DNA; shorter telomeres have been associated with lower life expectancy and certain chronic diseases.

Chiropractor Oakdale MN | Natural Products Association Responds to Good Morning America

Hi this is your Oakdale MN Chiropractor Dr. Ben Smetana. Here’s an interesting article on the topic of nutritional supplement safety. I always find it interesting when the news media picks up these stories on the safety of nutritional supplements and yet they never report on the safety of prescription medications; even though it is well documented that prescription medications, when properly prescribed and properly administered are responsible for over 100,000 deaths per year (JAMA 1998;279:1200). I suppose, you don’t want to bite the hand that feeds you. That being said, it is important to get your supplements from reputable sources. Read on…
